MDRNYGA, founded by Annie Parr, is a dynamic mat-less class bridging vinyasa flow yoga, mind-body fitness modalities and floor based modern dance principles.  Paced to a playlist ranging from Classical to Alternative the class sequences artful movement patterns to stretch, tone and ground the body. All of the sequences are choreographed and clearly guided similar to a yoga class but with the personality of a dance class. Dancer or not, yogi or not, this is not a traditional dance or yoga class. It is for the athletic and artful minded individual that is looking to creatively expand their practice. This class will open up ones approach to transitions, musicality and flow. Ultimately, MDRNYGA enables a strong, and efficient body, stimulating grace and fun through motion to connect to your authentic self.

Why MDRN YGA RETREATS? 

MDRNYGA enables a strong, and efficient body, stimulating grace and fun through motion to connect to your authentic self. Learning dance principles as an adult can be an intimidating endeavor. Retreats are a time of play and discovery to immerse yourself into a practice that is holistic, artful, and mentally and physically awakening. It is a safe and supportive environment to overcome your apprehension or fears about guided dance classes or a weekend to go deeper into a yoga or dance practice you already love and identify with. Yoga instructors are highly encouraged to participate in this workshop as a continuing education of discovering artful yet efficient transitions and sequencing. We will Integrate a hybrid of approaches and movement modalities into a yoga practice. Music does not need to be in the background of a yoga class. It can be the forefront instead, driving the pace and the progression of a powerful and exciting class.
